Nuria Oliver, is Director of Research in Data Science at Vodafone, Chief Data Scientist at Data-Pop Alliance and Chief Scientific Advisor at the Vodafone Institute. She has over 20 years of research experience in the areas of human behavior modeling and prediction from data and human-computer interaction. She holds a PhD in perceptual intelligence from MIT. She worked as a researcher at Microsoft Research for over 7 years and as the first female Scientific Director at Telefonica R&D for over 8 years. At the end of 2016 she was named Chief Data Scientist at Data-Pop Alliance and in early 2017 she also joined Vodafone as the first Director of Research in Data Science. In addition, she is Chief Scientific Advisor to the Vodafone Institute.
Her work is well known with over 150 scientific publications that have received more than 12000 citations and a ten best paper award nominations and awards. She is co-inventor of 40 filed patents and she is a regular keynote speaker at international conferences.
Nuria’s work and professional trajectory has received several awards, including the MIT TR100 (today TR35) Young Innovator Award (2004), the Rising Talent award by the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society (2009), the European Digital Woman of the Year award (2016) and the Spanish National Computer Science Angela Robles Award (2016). She has been named “an outstanding female director in technology” (El PAIS, 2012), one of “100 leaders for the future” (Capital, 2009) and one of the “40 youngsters who will mark the next millennium” (El PAIS, 1999).
She became an ACM Distinguished Scientist in 2016, a Fellow of the European Association of Artificial Intelligence in 2016 and an IEEE Fellow in 2017.
Her passion is to improve people’s quality of life, both individually and collectively, through technology. She is also passionate about scientific outreach. Hence, she regularly collaborates with the media (press, radio, TV) and gives non-technical talks about science and technology to broad audiences, and particularly to teenagers, with a special interest on girls.

DR. LLUIS MONTOLIU
Bachelor of Science in Biology University of Barcelona Doctorate in Biological Sciences by University of Barcelona (1990). Since 1991, worked in different projects in the field of animal transgenesis, having always worked, throughout his professional career with genetically modified organisms (first with plants, during his thesis, then with animals) . In 1996 he obtained a scientific position Head of the CSIC. In 1997 he joined the National Center for Biotechnology (CNB, Madrid) as group leader. In 2005 he was promoted to Scientific Researcher of the CSIC. From January 2004 to August 2006 was the Director of the Department of Molecular Biology and Cellular CNB. In the CNB, he currently directs his research, mainly concerned with the understanding of the organization of genes in genomes and the control mechanisms of gene expression using animal models genetically modified.

DR. JOSÉ DEL R. MILLÁN
José del R. Millán is Professor of Defitech in the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL), where it explores the use of brain signals for multimodal interaction and, in particular, development of non-invasive robots controlled by the
Brain and neuroprosthesis. In this effort multidisciplinary research, Dr. Millán is bringing together their pioneering work in the two fields of brain-computer interfaces and intelligent robotics adaptable received his Ph.D. In computer science at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain) in 1992, where it was assistant professor for three years. It was also scientific researcher at the joint research by the European Commission in Ispra (Italy), principal investigator of the Idiap Research Institute in Martigny (Switzerland) and visiting professor at the Universities of Stanford and Berkeley, as well as in International Institute of Computer Science in Berkeley. His research on brain-computer was nominated finalist of the European Descartes Prize 2001 and has been named Research Leader 2004 by Scientific American magazine for its work on robots controlled by the brain. Received the IEEE Nobert Wiener Award 2011 for their contributions seminal and pioneering brain-computer interfaces non-invasive. Science magazine has revised its work as one of the world’s leading researchers in the field of field of brain-computer interfaces. his
work on brain-computer interfaces has received broad scientific and media coverage throughout the world.
